Testimonial 1 - Before Applying Saaf Foot Softening Balm

Posted by - FEROZA - at 9:03 PM 2 comments

Let me share with you my own experience with one of Saaf's best seller - Organic Foot Softening Balm. My son's finger was badly infected which resulted inlosing half his finger nail, first layer of the skin gone and his top layer of finger flesh was exposed. The infection (due to the exposed flesh) caused wounds to develop and he couldn’t bend his fingers and would scream when in contact with water. I went to the doctor to get it treated for about 5months but it just got worse. All I got was a cream (which contained steroid I was told). The photos on the right shows my son's badly infected finger before I applied the balm

Testimonial 1 - After Applying Saaf Foot Softening Balm

After reading the ingredients of the Organic Foot Softening Balm ( Neem, Beeswax, Black Seed, Olive oil etc ) and their benefit, I decided to try it on my son’s infected finger. My son cleaned his fingers with Dettol hand soap and dried it well. Applied the foot balm generously and covered it with facial cotton overnight. After three applications, voila!! the wounds dried and healed. A new layer of skin developed and he can now bend his finger and not scream when in contact with water ! It was amazing to see the progress. After the 7th application, I could see even better progress as shown in these photos. I would say, it takes just a few more applications and my son's finger will be back to normal InsyaAllah!

Neem is one of the ingredients found in Saaf Organic Foot Softening Balm. I used this foot balm to treat the skin infection on my son’s index finger. His finger was badly infected which resulted in losing half his finger nail, first layer of the skin gone and his top layer of finger flesh was exposed. The infection (due to the exposed flesh) caused wounds to develop and he couldn’t bend his fingers and would scream when in contact with water. HOW TO Use Saaf Products

Posted by - FEROZA - at 10:56 PM 6 comments
Radiant, Glowing Skin Starts With Thorough Cleansing...
Basic skin care with Saaf Pure Face Cleanser And Organic Serum
  1. On dry face, apply a small amount of cleanser using the cotton face cloth, all over face, gently exfoliating. Avoid the eye area.
  2. Using another corner of the face cloth, soak it with warm water and gently remove all traces of the cleanser off the face, in an upward circular motion.
  3. Splash your face with cold water (Nature’s own toner-minus the chemicals) to close the pores. Alternatively, a tip from another friend who got it from a spa is that, just roll an ice cube all over your face.
  4. Pat dry your face with a soft clean towel.
  5. With a rolling motion, gently press a small amount of Saaf serum/Face & Lip Balm (moisturiser) onto your face and neck. Leave to penetrate for a few minutes. If necessary, blot of any excess with a tissue.

Click How To Apply Skin Serum To Face to watch the video. However please note that use only ONE PUMP of Saaf Organic Ultimate Moisture Serum (for normal/dry skin) or Saaf Organic Complexion Boosting Serum (for normal/oily skin)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deep cleansing :

  1. For deeper cleanse, make a cleansing solution by mixing 5-10mls of Pure Shower Gel in 1L of warm tap water.

Note : Pure Shower Gel is a natural soap base very high in glycerine, which acts as a humectant (attracting moisture to the skin) as well as containing betaine, which is a sugar beet derived ingredient designed to calm irritated skin.

How To Apply Saaf Face & Lip Balm

Use as a face moisturizer for very dry, dehydrated skin and lips and as an instant treatment for patchy eczema on the face.

Foot Softening Balm

Apply on cleansed feet before bed time. For cracked heels, apply a generous layer and wear cotton socks overnight.

Organic Enriching Hair Oil

Use a small amount for daily conditioning or massage into scalp twice a week as a deep penetrating treatment. For best results, massage into scalp, wrap in warm towel for 20minutes or leave overnight. Wash and dry as usual.

Skin Care Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Posted by - FEROZA - at 2:40 AM 1 comments

Q1 : Why Should I Use Organic Skin Care?

A1: Organic products means product is chemical-free, without the use of fertilizers, toxic pesticides and chemical processing, which is bound to be better for our skin.

At least 50 cancer-causing chemicals present in 120 cosmetics and daily used products. - Lipstick / Facial cleanser : 21 cancer-causing agents ; Face lotion / cream: 17 cancer-causing agents; Lip Balm/ gloss: 14 cancer-causing agents - Consumers Association Penang (CAP) Guide

Q2: How long will it take before I see an improvement in my skin?

A2 : Skin tends to regenerate naturally in 4-6 weeks and that is about the same time it takes to notice improvements in your skin texture and tone. For best results, use Saaf products regularly and avoid using any other synthetic/harsh products at the same time.

Q3: Why does Saaf not have a toner?

A3: Saaf believe that toner and exfoliator can damage the top layer of the skin and therefore recommends washing your face with a mild cleanser such as Saaf Organic Pure Face Cleanser, then rinsing off with a soft muslin cloth which will act as a gentle exfoliator. Follow this skincare routine with a splash of cold water, which is really nature’s toner and your Saaf serum/moisturizer.

Q4: Is face serum/ oil better than cream/lotion

A4: Cream contains up to 90% water and the remaining is made up of oils and other actives, which means you are paying a premium price for WATER and not getting the full therapeutic benefit. With face serum /oil you are getting 100% natural nutrients. So, yes, face serum/oil is not just better than cream or lotion but better value for money and more powerful than creams and lotion. At Saaf, we use skin-compatible, non-greasy feeling oils that are easily absorbed into the skin.

Q5: I have an oily skin, do I still need to moisturizer?

A5: People often think that applying neat oil on greasy or acne-prone skin will make matters worse. In fact, it is the opposite which is why Saaf recommends its Organic Pure Face Cleanser for all skin types, including oily. Skin dried out by harsh detergent-based face washes and watery moisturizers compensates by producing more sebum and oil. All types of skin however oily it may be, needs nurturing with vitamins and natural oils to ensure that it is in its best possible condition. The best formulation for oiler skin types is Saaf Organic Complexion Boosting Serum. Please also read the posts on the Benefits of Saaf’s Main Ingredients such as Ylang Ylang etc which forms the serum.

Q6: I’m pregnant, should I be worried about using essential oils?

All Saaf skin care products are safe for use during pregnancy, since we use the finest quality essential oils and very little of it. However, the Complexion Boosting Serum contains the essential oil of Juniper Berry, which some aroma therapists believe may be contra-indicated in pregnancy. We use less than 0.2% of Juniper Berry in Complexion Boosting Serum, which the founder developed for her personal use during her pregnancy to her twins. For pregnancy, we would also recommend using Saaf Eraser Body Oil for stretch marks and as a general body moisturizer.

Q7: Your product claims to be alcohol-free but some contains Benzyl Alcohol?

A7: Benzyl Alcohol is a natural part of Ylang Ylang essential oil and according to cosmetics Safety Regulation, it has to be declared on all packaging. It is not alcohol as in “beers and spirits” but its scientific name ends in alcohol. It is permissible for use in Halal certified products, as it is a natural constituent of many essential oils such as Rose or Jasmine.

Q8: Do you use perfumes in your products?

A8: Saaf only uses natural essential oil as “perfume”, which are fragranced with steam-distilled essential oils, chosen for their therapeutic effect based on Essential Oil Safety recommendations by Research Institute of Fragrance Materials

Q9: Why aren’t your products 100% organic ?

A9: Safe science is important to Saaf and our organic levels are governed by European Cosmetic Safety Regulations as well as a need for long term shelf life and product efficacy. We use very high levels of Natural Vitamin E as antioxidants in the products for this reason. Natural Vitamin E is not organic certifiable and because of this, our typical organic content is between 95% to 97% organic.

Q10: Why are cold pressed oils better?

A10: Cold pressed means heat was not used when mechanically pressing the oil. Cold press not only preserves the natural anti-oxidant properties of the oil, but ensures that it does not spoil and become rancid which will have a negative effect on its skin healing properties.

After that, all you need is the serum to moisturise your skin day and night. Simple and just two products instead of five and more importantly, no chemicals absorbed by the skin.

For those with dry skin, you may have to invest in the face and lip balm to avoid early onset of wrinkles or fine lines.

What is serum?

Posted by - FEROZA - at 2:32 AM 0 comments
Serum in Latin is "whey" like fluid. There are two definitions of serum:

1. The watery portion of an ANIMAL fluid remaining after coagulation.

2. The watery part of a PLANT fluid

In medical terms, serum is the liquid containing substances that fight infection or poison, that is put into a sick person's blood.

In technical terms, serum is the thin part of blood or the liquid from a plant.
